Scottsdale hosts 2ndAnnual Scottsdale Indian Market

The 2nd Annual Scottsdale Indian Market will be held on Feb. 16‑18 at the Civic Center Plaza in downtown Scottsdale. The event is in conjunction with Native Trails and Sunday Affair featuring Jazz by local musicians.

This is an opportunity for locals to purchase all types of Indian art and jewelry directly from the artists. A total range of works and prices is available each day of the market. Free Admission. Food and drink will be available to patrons.

Poet’s work set to music

“Langston Speaks: An Extended Experience” returns at 8 p.m., Feb. 16, to Arizona State University’s Kerr Cultural Center             featuring Charles Lewis and Friends performing an evening of music inspired by Langston Hughes’s poetry.

Original music by Charles Lewis compliments Hughes’ words written to express his understanding and connection with the African‑American struggle for civil rights.

Dom Moio on drums, Dwight Kilian on bass, Joe Corral on flute, and special guests will join Lewis in a journey of pain, frustration, loss and hope.

Tickets are $20, $19 for reserved seats, and $16 general admission. Tickets can be purchased at ASU Gammage and through any Ticketmaster outlet. Ballet Arizona to perform ‘Coppélia’

Ballet Arizona follows “The Nutcracker” with another family favorite, “Coppélia.”

Part fantasy, part love story and part comedy, “Coppélia” is the  tale of a toymaker who attempts to bring life to his doll Coppélia. Similar to “The Nutcracker,” “Coppélia” is a family‑friendly classic that has entertained audiences of all ages around the world for more than a century.

Performances will take place at 8 p.m. Feb. 16‑17, and 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at Symphony Hall, 75 N. 2nd St. in Phoenix. Tickets are $10, $25, $40, $77 and $104. Children 12 and younger are half price. 5th Annual FLAIR Art Show in Anthem

Works of art by Anthem resident artists will be on display with many available for sale during the fifth annual FLAIR Fine Art Show.

The event  will take place from 10 a.m.‑8 p.m. Feb. 21‑22, 10 a.m.‑10 p.m. Feb. 23, and 10 a.m.‑6 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Anthem Ironwood Country Club, 41551 North Anthem Hills Drive.

During the free show there will be a raffle of six separate art pieces with tickets selling for $2 each or three for $5.00. The winners will be chosen on Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. and need not be present to win.
