RIVER – Detectives are investigating allegations
that a convicted sex offender living in New River
may have sexually abused an underage female.
Maricopa
County Sheriff’s deputies on Friday arrested Mark
L. Stone, 49, and charged him with seven felony
sex‑abuse and related offenses, according
to a MCSO news release.
Officers
arrested Stone after receiving a report that he
allegedly molested a girl repeatedly over a four‑year
span beginning in 2003, the sheriff’s office reported.
Stone allegedly provided the girl, now 15‑years‑old,
with alcohol and illegal drugs.
Detectives
charged Stone with one count of child molestation,
one count of sexual abuse, one count of attempted
sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of involving
a minor in a drug offense, one count of furnishing
harmful material to a minor, and one count of
public sexual indecency.
Stone
was convicted in 1997 for engaging in sexual intercourse
and oral sex with a 15‑year‑old girl,
the daughter of his then girlfriend, according
to the sheriff’s office. He was also convicted
of giving that victim alcohol.
Stone
remains in the 4th Avenue jail pending a bond
hearing. His place of residence is listed as 2559
W. Roughrider Rd., located between 23rd and 27th
avenues north of New River Road.
