The
public
is
invited
to
an
information
workshop
on
the
master
planning
process
for
Phoenix
Deer
Valley
Airport.
The
workshop
will
be
held
from
the
6‑7:30
p.m.
on
Feb.
27
at
the
Country
Inn
&
Suites
near
the
intersection
of
Interstate
17
and
Loop
101
in
North
Phoenix.

This
is
the
fourth
such
workshop
hosted
by
the
City
of
Phoenix
Aviation
Department.
The
master
plan,
currently
being
prepared,
will
address
both
air
and
landside
facility
needs
regarding
the
future
development
of
the
airport.
The
airport,
owned
and
operated
by
the
city,
is
one
of
the
busiest
general
aviation
airports
in
the
country.
The
workshop
will
include
exhibits
illustrating
airport
facilities
and
proposed
development.
Those
attending
will
have
an
opportunity

one‑on‑one
with
project
team
members
and
there
will
be
a
format
for
the
public
to
provide
written

First
annual
Laura’s
Run
to
be
held
on
March
11
In
the
wake
of
the
newly
formed
lung
transplant
program
at
the
St.
Joseph’s
Hospital,
the
first
annual
Laura’s
Run
will
he
held
at
9
a.m.
on
March
11
in
North
Scottsdale,
according
to
a
news
release
from
the
Laura
Burdick
Foundation.
Burdick,
who
received
a
lung
transplant
in
2003,
died
in
2005.
Her
friend,
Kristi
Johnson,
and
Burdick’s
husband,
Jon
Burdick,
serve
as
co‑founders
for
the
run.
The
event,
to
be
held
at
the
Cap
Basin
Sports
Complex,
is
a
5K
walk
or
run
and
will
also
feature
a
kids’
dash.
In
addition,
there
will
be
live
music
from
local
performers,
complimentary
food,
and
prizes.
All
proceeds
will
benefit
the
foundation,
supporting
programs
for
the
families
and
recipients
of
lung
transplants.

receive
scholarship
funds

Three
recent
graduates
of
Cactus
Shadows
High
School
have
qualified
for
renewed
scholarship
funding
from
the
Devon
Ann
Sweeney
Foundation.
Kasey
Odell,
a
second
year
student
at
Arizona
State
University
majoring
in
psychology,
has
been
awarded
$2,000
by
the
foundation.
Kasey
is
the
daughter
of
Kathy
Odell,
of
Scottsdale.
Alicia
Ortega
is
a
junior
at
the
University
of
Arizona
majoring
in
molecular
and
cellular
biology.
The
daughter
of
David
and
Kay
Ortega
of
Cave
Creek,
Alicia
has
been
awarded
$3,000
toward
her
continued
education.
Jason
Beazley
is
currently
working
toward
a
bachelor’s
degree
in
political
science
and
a
master’s
degree
in
political
theory
at
ASU.
He
has
been
awarded
$4,000
from
the
foundation.
He
is
the
son
of
Jackie
and
Skot
Beazley
of
Carefree.
Since
its
founding,
the
DAS
foundation
has
awarded
nine
high
school
students
a
total
of
$27,000.
In
October
of
1995
Devon
Sweeney,
13,
of
Cave
Creek,
was
killed
in
a
car
accident
involving
six
teenagers
on
their
way
home
from
a
Foothills
Academy
function.
Her
parents,
Mark
Sweeney
and
De
Reichenbach,
established
the
DAS
Foundation
in
their
daughter’s
memory.
Due
to
the
community
support
and
generosity,
the
DAS
Foundation
was
able
to
award
its
first
scholarship
only
seven
months
after
Devon’s
death.
Applications
for
the
2007
award
are
available
from
the
CSHS
guidance
offices.
Any
graduating
senior
who
plans
to
attend
a
four‑year
college
or
university
and
lives
in
the
Desert
Foothills
can
apply.
