School district to host reception honoring Carpenter

The Deer Valley Unified School District will hold a reception to honor retired governing board member Ted Carpenter who served on the board from 1993 to 2007.

Carpenter recently resigned his position to become Chief Deputy for the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools.

The reception will be held from 6:15‑7 p.m. on Feb. 27 at the District Office reception lobby, located at 20402 N. 15th Ave. in Phoenix.

School board names Gregoire as president

The Deer Valley Unified School District Governing Board last week chose board member Michael Gregoire to serve as president following Ted Carpenter’s resignation.

Gregoire was elected to the board in 2004 and in 2005, he served as the Governing Board Vice‑President.

He is founder of FanStar Sports, a software development company, specializing in desktop and online sports related software. He is actively involved in local online communities and regularly attends public forums addressing transportation, education and utility regulation.

Gregoire resides in Anthem with his wife and four children.


School board picks Migliorino to serve as fiscal services director

The Deer Valley Unified School District Governing Board has named Jim Migliorino to serve as Executive Director of Fiscal Services for the school district, according to a news release from the district.

The decision was made at the district governing board’s Feb. 13 meeting. Migliorino will oversee “finance, planning and demographics, facility maintenance, payroll and employee benefits, purchasing, printing and graphics,” the release stated.

Migliorino has served as Fiscal Services Director for the school district since July 2005. His administrative experiences include serving as Assistant Superintendent for Liberty Elementary School District in Buckeye and Business Manager with Gila Bend Unified School District. He is an active member of Arizona Association of School Business Officials (AASBO) and currently serves as president for the 2006‑07 school year. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University.

Migliorino resides in Peoria with his wife and two children.
