An
insult to the intelligence of the average
American citizen
Got
to take issue with Mr. Evan Christopher
(“Gangs of Cave Creek,” Feb. 21, The
Desert Advocate) concerning nonsensical
immigration thinking. Mr. Christopher’s
choice of words while stating his position
are unfortunate.
When
he mentions “many Hispanics hanging
around on the street,” perhaps he should
be forthright and include that 90 percent
of them are “Mexicans.” When he describes
the “anti‑immigrant” force, he
might want to state “illegal alien”
instead. Mr. Christopher’s terms are
those used by open‑border advocates.
And it is basically an insult to the
intelligence of the average American
citizen.
Perhaps
Mr. Christopher should realize that
along with the illegals who are breaking
the law, there are terrorists amongst
them. Or will it take a dirty bomb or
suitcase nukes in a few of our largest
cities to wake people up?
To
compare the immigration policy this
country has today with the Native Americans
of yesteryear is absolute nonsense.
There is nothing the Indians could have
done back in the day when superior European
forces arrived.
Our
government today certainly has the capability
to seal our borders. It just chooses
not to. And this country will suffer
from this lack of attention to duty
sooner rather than later. As a country
matures, immigration policy must adapt
to the circumstances.
Our
leaders have failed us. It’s their constitutional
responsibility to protect the nation.
Both Democrats and Republicans have
proven by now they are failures at this
task. The only man in the entire Congress
who has the guts to address the problem
is congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado.
And he may run for president. If he
does, you might be surprised at how
many votes he gets. The media has no
clue where the American people stand
on this issue.
