Kindergarten
registration for CCUSD set for March 7
All
five Cave Creek Unified School District elementary schools
will hold their kindergarten registration night for
the 2007‑08 school year this week.
From
6‑7 p.m. on March 7, parents and guardians can
register their child at one of the schools. CCUSD offers
free, full‑day kindergarten to all students.
All
students need to be 5 by Sept. 1 and parents need to
provide the following: birth certificate, immunization
record, proof of Arizona residency, an emergency contact
and doctor’s information.
Elementary
schools within CCUSD include: Black Mountain, 33606
N. 60th St.; Desert Sun, 27880 N. 64th St.; Desert Willow,
4322 N. Desert Willow Parkway; Horseshoe Trails, 5405
E. Pinnacle Vista Dr; and Lone Mountain, 5250 E. Montgomery
Rd.

District
makes social studies material available for review
Cave
Creek Unified School District stakeholders will have
the opportunity to view Social Studies materials for
grades six through eight until May 18 at Sonoran Trails
Middle School.
Sets
of materials will be available for review weekdays from
8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the campus at 5555 East Pinnacle
Vista Dr. No appointment is necessary and comment cards
will be available.
The
selection of materials will be presented to the Governing
Board in late May before they are adopted. The board
reviews all curriculum materials every six years to
stay current with Arizona academic standards.

DAS
Foundation looking for scholarship hopefuls
The
Devon Anne Sweeney (DAS) Foundation is accepting applications
for the 11th annual Devon Anne Sweeney Memorial Scholarship.
The award is in memory of Sweeney, who was killed in
a car crash in October 1995.
The
scholarship is open to all high school seniors from
the Desert Foothills area. Applications are available
from the Cactus Shadows High School guidance counselors.
The deadline for applying is April 15.
