Healthy dogs welcome in Anthem dog park

Thanks for your article (“Dog Park OK, maybe” The Desert Advocate. Feb. 28). One thing no reporter has ever pointed out, is that we are members‑only for health reasons only.

The veterinarians in the area applaud the fact that we require shots for entry (to the dog park), thus making sure all dogs stay healthy. We also do not allow puppies under four months, or until they have had final puppy shots.

It’s not that we want to be exclusive or private, but if you don’t take care of the health of your pet, we don’t want you to endanger ours.

Also, we can enforce rules as to dogs with problem behavior, should that occur. It’s a health and rules need, not the need to keep people out. It’s 50 cents a week to exercise your dog in a clean, proper environment.
