ANTHEM
– At about 4:15 p.m. on March 10, Daisy Mountain
Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle
accident in the southbound lanes of Interstate
17 at Daisy Mountain Road. Crews arrived on
the scene to find a small Ford pickup that
had gone out of control. The 55‑year‑old
male driver sustained facial, neck and back
injuries, and was transported by ambulance
to
John
C. Lincoln North Mountain Trauma Center for
evaluation.
A
second occupant of the pickup sustained only
minor injuries and was transported to an area
hospital.
Shortly
thereafter, at about 4:30 p.m., DMFD crews
responded to another accident in the southbound
lanes of I‑17 at Anthem Way. This accident
involved a 49‑year‑old woman who
had lost control of her vehicle and struck
a pole. Appearing disoriented, with paramedics
suspecting a head injury, the woman was airlifted
to John C. Lincoln North Mountain Trauma Center
in stable but serious condition.
DMFD
did not release the names of the accident
victims for reasons of privacy, said Capt.
Dennis Tyrrell, spokesman for Daisy Mountain.
The
southbound lanes of I‑17 were restricted
for more than an hour due to the collisions.
Causes of the accidents are under investigation
by the Department of Public Safety.
