Concert to benefit Foothills Habitat
by Jim Crawford

Habitat for Humanity has changed the lives of countless families by helping put roofs over heads that otherwise might not be able to afford one.

Supporters can help in the North Valley by attending an upcoming concert to benefit Habitat for Humanity Desert Foothills.

The “Hearts in Harmony” Benefit Concert, at 7 p.m., March 30, at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Cave Creek will feature the popular music of Kevin Glenn and Martha Lindsey.

Husband and wife team of Glenn and Lindsey are very involved in local productions, most notably for Desert Foothills Theater productions and presentations at Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center. Their extensive resumes include having produced, directed and performed in many area productions. In addition, they have both been featured at The Herberger Theater and Arizona MusicFest. They teach voice/piano in Lindsey/Glenn Studios and work very closely with young people in the Greater Phoenix area. They are devoted to promoting and performing in fine arts events in the North Valley.

With 400 songs to his credit, Glenn is in demand as a singer in pop, rock and theater events. His vast catalog appeals to audiences  of all ages.

Mezzo‑soprano Lindsey performs operas, oratorios and concerts throughout the United States and Europe and continues to teach voice/piano. She has studied with some of the leading classical vocalists in the world.

The couple creates and performs shows for large corporations, public/private organizations and parties with their group Hearts in Harmony.

“We do old standards like ‘Old Black Magic,’ ‘Come Rain or Come Shine’ and Broadway duets such as ‘Music of the Night’ from ‘Phantom of the Opera’ with lots of harmonies, and then solos that showcase our individual styles. Martha is classically trained and crosses over into Broadway and I sing Broadway but can also cross over to classical,” Glenn said. “Martha and I, and Jim Whitaker our accompanist, put a lot of energy into our shows and have a lot of fun. The experience is very joyful for us and, ultimately, hopefully, for the audience.”

Proceeds from the event will help HHDF lend a hand to an area family facing critical housing needs.

The organization hopes to raise enough money at this event to support local fundraising for the Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity house.

With construction underway on four homes in Cave Creek, this event will also raise awareness   to help support HHDF’s mission of working with people from all walks of life to build   homes and promote wholesome communities.

HHDF sells homes to families who work and live in the Desert Foothills at a zero percent interest mortgage. To learn more about becoming a partner family, volunteer opportunities, or donating to HHDF, please contact Linda Raish, Director at (480) 488‑4693.

Christ the Lord Lutheran Church is located at 9205 E. Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek.
