Pancake breakfast to benefit National Guard families

A pancake breakfast will be held to benefit the Family Assistance Program of the American National Guard. from 8 ‑11 a.m. on March 24 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 39808 N. Gavilan Peak Pkwy. in Anthem. Adult admission is $5, children under 8 are admitted for $2.

Saturday market set

The next Markets at the Shops at Crescent Moon Ranch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 24. The market is located at 10428 E Jomax Road in Scottsdale.

Foothills Caring Corps Cash & Caring Raffle & Auction

The Foothills Caring Corps is holding its raffle and auction on March 26 at el Pedregal, with proceeds from the event to go directly to providing services that help homebound seniors and adults with disabilities remain independent in their own homes.

Tickets are $100 each or three for $275 and include entrance to the festivities. Five $5,000 cash prizes will be awarded with odds of winning set at 1 in 130.

‘Listen Up’ scheduled for March 30‑April 1

The second “Listen Up” event is scheduled for Harold’s Cave Creek Corral beginning March 30 during Bike Week.

Sponsored by American Motorcyclist Association, this educational event is designed to raise awareness to motorcycle riders of the amount of noise their machines produce and informing them of the noise regulation program.

Barry Caraway of Cyclerides.com will emcee the event, and Harold’s will give away free hamburgers to the first 50 motorcyclists each day who “check their pipes” with the sound equipment provided by the AMA. There also will be raffles and giveaways.

The event runs from 2‑5 p.m. on March 30, 10 a.m.‑1 p.m. and 4‑6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.‑2 p.m. on Sunday.

Foothills Caring Corps needs volunteers for summer

With the approach of summer, Foothills Caring Corps is seeking volunteers to help homebound elderly with transportation, shopping, and Mobile Meals increases. Even one day a month is extremely valuable.

A special Volunteer Recruitment Breakfast will be held on April 17 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at McGinnis Hall at Christ Anglican Episcopal Church in Carefree. Please join FCC to learn more about how you can become one of the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” Additionally, regular monthly Volunteer Orientations will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at Christ Church on April 12, May 10, and June 14.

American Girls Club meets

An American Girls Club meets every first and third Wednesday of the month at Vineyard Church at Anthem. The club, designed for second‑through sixth‑grade girls, is welcoming new members.

“The club is about enjoying childhood and not growing up too fast,” said Margaret Dixon, leader. “I feel like our girls need an alternative view of what it means to be a girl–the importance of who they are inside–not what they are told by their friends, society and the media.”

The club meets from 4‑5:30 p.m. at Vineyard Church, 42105 N. 41st Dr. Club dues are $3 per meeting and parents are welcome to observe.
