Ultra Marathon to pass through Cave Creek

CAVE CREEK – Cactus Shadows High School has been selected as a host site for the Ultra Marathon March 30‑31.

The venue will be a major fundraiser for the Key Club and Athletics Department as the campus becomes an “exchange site” for more than 900 runners who are attempting legs of a marathon.

The runners are coming from Wickenburg and finishing in Fountain Hills. Other exchange sites are Lake Pleasant, Pinnacle Patio and Fountain Hills Middle School.

 Cactus Shadows DECA stars going to nationals

CAVE CREEK – Three Cactus Shadows High School DECA students recently qualified to represent Arizona at the International DECA Conference in Orlando, Fla., this spring.

Michael Brennen, Edward Feiler and Corbin Cadwell placed at the state DECA competition and will advance to nationals April 27‑May 2 at Disney World.

Brennan took second overall in the Business Services Individual Event and Feiler and Cadwell placed third in the Financial Services Team Event at the recent state meet.

Thirty‑six Cactus Shadows  students total competed at the state event.

Fifth‑grade artist has work published

CAVE CREEK – Black Mountain Elementary School fifth‑grader Jordan Gunning has been  selected out of 1 million artists to have an artwork published in an art educators’ book. The book will be titled “Art Explorations” by Davis Publications. The artwork features an autumnleaf design using a watercolor resist technique.
