Women invited to Bible study
ANTHEM - It's "Visitor's Day" at Community Bible Study
and women are invited to attend as guests at 9:15 a.m., April 18
and 25, at Grace North Church.
CBS is a non denominational Bible study group. The class is presently
studying the Gospel of Matthew, and will move to the Book of Acts
next fall. Registration fee is waived for new members who join now
and continue through May 9.
Although not available visitor's day, child care is normally provided

Seeking
passionate Democrats
CAREFREE - The Foothills Democrats are seeking Democrats who are
passionate about politics to join them at their March 23 meeting
at Carefree Town Hall.
The first Clean Elections candidate in Arizona, Barbara Lubin,
who ran for Corporation Commission in 2000, tops the agenda at
7 p.m. Now executive director of the Clean Elections Institute,
Lubin will explain how the Clean Elections Act works. The discussion
will include former Representative David Burnell Smith's recent
removal from office for Clean Elections violations along with

O'Connor student named finalist as Phoenix's Outstanding Young
Woman
PHOENIX - The Phoenix Youth and Education Commission recognized
a Sandra Day O'Connor junior as one of the finalists competing
for its 2006 OutstandingYoung Man/Young Woman of the Year awards.
The Young Man and Young Woman finalists were announced at a recent
luncheon which also recognized other students and teachers who
had the most impact on the honorees.
Chanel Perez was named as a finalist representing Council District
1 and received a $250 scholarship. Perez volunteers with St. Mary's
Food Bank and raised funds for Hurricane Katrina victims. Dawn
Bellows, a dance teacher at Sandra Day O'Connor High School, was
recognized for her positive impact on Perez.
