The
fox guarding the henhouse
One
very large detail left out of your story in the
March 28 issue, “Anthem residents not buying rate
hike,” is that Del Webb/Pulte is leaving Anthem
seven or eight years early and wants the money
for the infrastructure paid to them now as opposed
to the original sales agreement.
Arizona
American owed this money to Del Webb/Pulte and
was to pay it off after 2014. No wonder Del Webb/Pulte
did not want to be anywhere near that meeting.
As for the Anthem Community Council standing up
to Arizona American against this rate request–it’s
all a smokescreen. The Anthem Community Council
is controlled by Del Webb/Pulte, and it is
Del
Webb/Pulte making the demand for infrastructure
payoff from Arizona American. It is
like
the fox guarding the henhouse.
When
we bought into Anthem, all infrastructure costs
were apportioned to all the lots equally. That
is how the cost of developed property is determined.
This
is the big secret Del Webb/Pulte does not want
anyone to know about.
