Politics
as usual?
It’s
unfortunate that Mr. Schwan, rather than debate
the merits of the issues with me, particularly
involving the Easy Street Project and why he
voted for it, has instead resorted to an unwarranted
attack against me in his comments last week
(“Schwan and Smith gearing up for May runoff,”
March 28, The Desert Advocate).
Schwan
claimed in the article that he was running on
the idea that “Schwan is a man you can trust.”
Mr. Schwan, I sincerely hope the people of Carefree
can trust you to not
dirty
the politics of this runoff campaign further
with false claims and unfounded character attacks.
Let’s separate personal attacks from policy
disagreements. I am more than willing to debate
with you the important issues facing our town
in a constructive fashion.
Since
Mr. Schwan asked the question of where I‘ve
been, Iam more than happy to tell him. Schwan
is right when he said I’ve been actively campaigning
in 2007. I’ve been talking with the residents
and business owners directly, knocking on their
doors, and talking with them at the
post
office every chance I’ve had. I’m glad my volunteers
and I have had the opportunity
to
personally speak with nearly 2,000 Carefree
residents since my campaign began.
Throughout
my 25-year residency in Carefree, I’ve been
active. Amongst my many professional and community
memberships, I was a board member and president
of the HOA for Rolling Hills
in
Carefree. For the past 10 years, I’ve served
as precinct committeeman for the Republican
Party for Carefree, and have served as the precinct
captain. I’ve served as State Representative,
as a judge in the area for over 15 years, and
a board member of the Scottsdale Bar Association
(which includes the legal community of Carefree)
for 12 years. On the board, I was elected president
and vice-president. As a local AM talk radio
host, I discussed important issues facing our
communities, state and nation with the public.
I’ve
been recognized for my community advocacy and
professional work with several awards, including
a prestigious “Friend of the Taxpayer Award.”
I’ve been actively looking out for the best
interests of Arizona’s communities and families
for the 25 years I’ve lived in Carefree.
