Break doesn’t slow Boulder
Jaguars’ boys volleyball team remains hot
by Jason Stone

ANTHEM – A 10‑day layoff didn’t hurt Boulder Creek’s boys volleyball team when it returned to action March 27.

The Jaguars continued the early‑season momentum from before the break with a 3‑1 victory over St. Mary’s on the road. Boulder Creek (17‑4 overall) had been off since going 8‑1 at the Mountain View Tournament March 16‑17 in Marana.

Boulder Creek will now try to translate that momentum into Northwest Region wins as league play was scheduled to begin this week. The Jaguars were slated to open April 3 at Mountain Ridge, but results were unavailable at press time. BCHS is also scheduled to face O’Connor (2‑9) in Anthem on April 5.

TENNIS

Jaguars tennis in good shape

ANTHEM – Boulder Creek’s boys and girls tennis teams continue to impress. The teams entered the week with a combined team record of 21‑3 in dual matches. The girls remained undefeated in the Northwest Region (5‑0) as the season enters the final stretch of regular matches.

After the teams stage the Northwest Region tournament next week, teams and individuals who qualify will move on to the 5A‑Division II team and individual tournaments in two weeks.

TRACK

Boulder Creek places three at Kellis meet

ANTHEM – Boulder Creek’s boys track team placed in three events at the March 30 Kellis Invitational.

The Jaguars took third in the 4x800‑meter relay, falling behind Mountain View and Queen Creek, while Daniel Lovell scored points in two events.

Lovell finished fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4 minutes, 33.70 seconds. Centennial’s Chris Webb (4:19.62) won the event. Lovell also turned in a sixth‑place finish in the 800. His time of 2:03.51 was more than three seconds off the winning pace.

The Jaguars finished 17th out of 25 teams in the event. Boulder Creek’s girls team did not place in any events.
