That's
a wrap!
The
Foothills Film Society is announcing the sixth and last film
for the 2005 2006 season, "Monsieur Ibrahim," released
in France in 2003. The commentator that evening will be, Max
McQueen, well known film reviewer for the Scottsdale Tribune.
He will introduce the film, and take questions and comments
from the floor after the screening.
"Monsieur
Ibrahim" is a coming of age tale set in 1960's Paris.
Young Pierre Boulanger gives a remarkably assured performance
as Moses, a Jewish teen living with his cold, skinflint of
a dad in a less than savory part of town. Abandoned by his
mother and living in the shadow of a brother who has since
left the household, Moses leads an embittered existence. He
is finally befriended by an aged shopkeeper named Ibrahim
(Omar Sharif), a Sufi Muslim who, after Moses' father commits
suicide, adopts the boy and instills in him valuable life
lessons gleaned from his religious training and his experience.
The film will be shown on Monday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at the
Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center, 33606 N. 60th Street in Cave
Creek. There is a suggested donation of $8 per person at the
door. Dessert and coffee will end the evening. For information,
call the Foothills Community Foundation at (480) 488 1090,
