The
competition was so fierce and the 31 entries so varied,
I decided to divide them into two age groups: 8 and
under, and 9 12.
Our youngest entrant was two year old Connor Schutza
whose purple crayon medium wowed the office. In fact,
each day Desert Advocate employees looked forward
to the mail delivery to see what new colorful cowpokes
came in. Since we were so impressed by the efforts
of our local kids, we've decided to hold a pizza party
for all of the entrants.
And, as stated, the two numero uno winners will ride
on The Desert Advocate Fiesta Days float.
The two winners were chosen for their use of color
and depiction of the desert in spring -and, of course,
for appealing to the whim and fancy of the managing
editor. Thanks to all of you for brightening our office
for the past two weeks.
