Proceeds
from the fundraiser go directly toward providing
services that help homebound seniors and adults
with disabilities remain independent in their
own homes. The Caring Corps is a program of
the Foothills Community Foundation, and serves
Carefree, Cave Creek, North Scottsdale, and
North Phoenix.
The
event, which was held on March 26 at el Pedregal,
was a tremendous success. It was a fabulous
evening of fun, food, wine, fantastic entertainment
by Harry Matthews, a silent auction, and a
live auction hosted by auctioneer Ted Diamond.
Five people won cash prizes of $5,000 each
in the raffle.
We
extend special thanks to el Pedregal at the
Boulders Resort for donating its beautiful
facility for the gala once again. Thanks also
to the many el Pedregal and other local businesses
that donated items for the auctions, and to
our many local patrons, whose contributions
made the event possible.
Most
of all, we thank our wonderful volunteers,
who generously donate their time to help their
homebound neighbors get to doctor’s appointments,
the grocery store, or who deliver Mobile Meals
and drive our transportation van. The Caring
Corps now helps more than 325 homebound individuals
locally. Without our volunteers, many of these
neighbors would be faced with the prospect
of giving up their independence.
As
summer approaches, we invite everyone in the
community to join us in helping these neighbors.
If you have even just a little time that you
could give, please call the Caring Corps at
(480) 488-1105. You can help as much or as
little as you choose. The program is very
flexible and
grateful for whatever time you can donate.
Again,
our sincere thanks to everyone who supported
the fundraiser in any capacity and to everyone
in the community that plays a part in helping
our Caring Corps’ neighbors maintain their
independence and dignity.
