Donation
drive to finish at end of June
by

CAVE
CREEK – “To grow you need a push,” said Jack Gardner, a Board
Member of the Desert Foothills chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
Gardner was referring to the funding that the organization will
receive at the end of June following a year‑long donation
campaign.
In
June, 2005, two philanthropists from the Desert Foothills area
challenged Habitat for Humanity to raise $500,000 by June 30,
2006 with the intent that each dollar donated by the community
would be matched. One million dollars could be the end result
if Habitat's campaign is successful.
“This
is something they do–identifying small growing charitable operations,”
Gardner said of the two philanthropists. And the Desert Foothills
chapter of Habitat for Humanity qualifies as just
that – a small nonprofit organization growing rapidly.
The
two individuals had previously given money to Habitat, and in
the process of staying in touch with them, the organization became
part of an exciting year‑long matching‑funds campaign.
“We're
getting close to the end,” Gardner reported, and we fully expect
to achieve the
$500,000. We've had outstanding support from the local community.”
