Cops raise funds for Special Olympics

Everybody’s wanted to tell a cop what to do at one time or  another–and have him do it.

Now’s your chance during the “Tip‑A‑Cop” fundraiser from  5‑9 p.m., April 26, at the selected Claim Jumpers restaurant locations.

Law enforcement personnel throughout Arizona will wait  tables at the five sites to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Arizona.

All tips earned during the annual fundraiser hosted by the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run will go to the nonprofit organization. Last year, participating officers raised nearly $24,000 for SOAZ during the event.

“We’re looking forward to putting on our aprons and taking orders for our friends at Special Olympics Arizona,” said Sgt. Gil Soto of the Phoenix Police Department. “We encourage everyone to stop by to have a great meal, a one‑of‑a‑kind dinner experience, and to bond with our officers on behalf of SOAZ.”

Participating locations are 3063 W. Agua Fria Freeway in Deer Valley; 1530 W. Baseline Road in Tempe; 7000 Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale; 101st Avenue and McDowell Road in Avondale; and 3761 E. Broadway Blvd. in Tucson.
