French teacher article a huge shock

Brian DiTullio wrote an article (“Parents claim French teacher derelict in duties”) for the April 4 issue of The Desert Advocate suggesting that the French teacher at Boulder Creek High School is not teaching to the level of parents’ expectations and may be acting inappropriately in class.

This came as a huge shock as I have known this person for nearly 4 years. This teacher is an upstanding citizen, honest, ethical and trustworthy. There is no way her actions can be construed as inappropriate as suggested in the article. She teaches because she believes in the education and advancement of our students, our future leaders.

It is interesting that this teacher has been voted “Teacher of the Month,” and received positive evaluations from the school administration, yet her reputation is allowed to be damaged by inflammatory and untrue statements made by an agitated parent. I’m disappointed Mr. DiTullio did not contact this teacher for comment before writing this article. Isn’t a good reporter supposed to investigate all sides of a story?

Editor’s Note:

The Desert Advocate attempted contact with the French teacher through the proper channels. The district denied any contact with the teacher and has denied further attempts to investigate the situation, calling it a “personnel matter.”
