Luxury
senior living project planned for former Rawhide site
by Kathleen Stinson
SCOTTSDALE
– A new luxury
senior living development planned for North Scottsdale calls
itself the “encore of luxury living.”
Classic
Residence at Silverstone, currently in the design review
phase with the City of Scottsdale, is the combined vision
of The Plaza Companies and Classic Residence by Hyatt.
The
developer/owner partnership anticipates breaking ground
on the project to be located at the former Rawhide Theme
Park area in late 2007.
“It’s
a very innovative and cutting‑edge lifestyle opportunity
for seniors,” said Sharon Harper, chief executive officer
of The Plaza Companies.
The
32‑acre site at Pinnacle Peak and Scottsdale roads
will provide space for 271 independent homes in the main
lodge, the villa and in single family homes. A resort style
retirement community, the development boasts a variety of
amenities including a fitness center and spa, indoor/outdoor
pools, a championship‑caliber putting course, several
dining venues, and a 1,000‑foot‑long garden
view leading up to the lodge.
The
units will range in size from 1,100‑2,500‑square
feet and range in price for life contracts from $500,000
to $1.4 million. The development has a 90 percent refund
program.
“We
chose the location for its beautiful views and to give families
who love the area and don’t want to relocate, an opportunity
to live in the area,” Harper said.
The
developers also partnered to build a similar community in
the Grayhawk Master Planned Community, Harper added.
