ANTHEM
– Three up, three down. It’s not baseball, but Boulder Creek’s
boys volleyball team wrapped up three more wins last week
to stay at No. 2 in the 5A‑Division II state rankings.
The
Jaguars (22‑4 overall, 4‑0 Northwest Region)
triumphed over Goldwater, Deer Valley and Hamilton last
week to carry a 14‑match winning streak into the week.
Boulder
Creek is second in the state power point rankings behind
No. 1 Catalina Foothills, which is undefeated so far.
The
Jaguars will try to keep the momentum going this week with
games at Deer Valley and home against Mountain Ridge. Boulder
Creek will also be part of this weekend’s McClintock Invitational
in Tempe.
In
other boys volleyball news, Goldwater (3‑13, 1‑3)
earned its first region win of the year April 12 when it
beat rival O’Connor in five games. O’Connor (3‑14,
0‑4) is still looking for its first region win.
