Foothills raffle a success

The Foothills Caring Corps is very grateful to the local community for its generous support of our second annual “Cash & Caring Raffle.” The raffle raises funds to provide services to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities in this community.

The fundraising event, which was held April 3 at El Pedregal, was a tremendous success. It was a fabulous evening of fun, food and wine, that included entertainment by Al Reitano, a silent auction, and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Ted Dimond.

All 600 raffle tickets were sold. Ticket sales and the gala event netted $65,000, which will make a tremendous difference in our ability to serve our homebound neighbors. Congratulations to raffle cash prize winners:

Joyce Shansby, $25,000; Norm McMillan, $10,000; and William Pogue, $5,000.

We extend special thanks to El Pedregal at the Boulders for donating its beautiful facility for the gala event. Thanks also to the many El Pedregal and other local businesses that donated items for the auctions, and to our many local patrons, whose cash donations made the event possible.

Most of all, we thank our wonderful volunteers, who generously donate their time to help their homebound neighbors get to doctors appointments, the grocery store, or who deliver mobile meals and drive our transportation van.

The Caring Corps, which is a program of the Foothills Community Foundation, now helps more than 300 homebound individuals in the local community. Without our volunteers, many of these neighbors would be faced with the prospect of losing their independence. As summer approaches, we invite everyone in the community to join us in helping these neighbors.  If you have even just a little time that you could give to help, please call the Caring Corps at (480) 488‑1105. You can help as much or as little as you choose–the program is very flexible and we are grateful for whatever resources you can donate.

Again, our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the fundraiser in any capacity, and to everyone in the community that plays a part in helping our Caring Corps neighbors maintain their independence and dignity.
