CCUSD
– Black Mountain Elementary School Principal
Pam Sitton last week was named Arizona School
Administrator Elementary Distinguished Principal
for 2007.
In
making a selection, ASA looks at such criteria
as proven quality leadership, excellent educational
programs, and student achievement.
“It’s
a real honor to be recognized in your profession
by your peers, and certainly Ms. Sitton
is deserving of the award,” said Dr. Roger
Short, executive director of ASA.
“Ms.
Sitton is knowledgeable and a focused elementary
school principal who has high expectations
of herself and her staff,” said Debbi Burdick,
associate superintendent of teaching for Cave
Creek Unified School District.
In
her sixth year as principal at Black Mountain
Elementary, Sitton has worked in education for
19 years. Before coming to BMES, she was a principal
in the Madison School District for two years
and taught school for eight years in Illinois.
“We
were very excited to get this award which really
speaks more to the teachers, staff, parents,
and students than anything else. Not one person
can do it all,” Sitton said. “That’s what makes
great schools.”
BMES
was awarded A‑Plus recognition three years
ago and was the first in the district to be
so recognized.
“We’re
proud of our great community. Everyone really
works together,” Sitton said. “It’s very collaborative.”
