The
living area for the fire‑fighters is spacious
enough for nine firefighters with dorm rooms for each,
although three firefighters share one room, alternating
with the shifts.
The
kitchen is also equipped to handle nine people sufficiently
with “two of everything” said Jones; including two
stoves, two microwaves, two refrigerators and ample
counter space.
The
station took about eight months to build and cost
more than $1 million, although that price includes
the equipment and the cost to staff it, Jones said.
This
is the fourth fire station in the district. The other
three are located at New River Road and Interstate
17, New River Road and Circle Mountain Drive, and
Desert Hills and 11th Avenue.
