Tuscani Pointe targeted again
by Jennifer Krahe

“We've only been open a month now. And Tuscani Pointe has already been hit twice.” Dan Schroedl, owner of Sara's Essentials, a coffee bar and gift shop at Tuscani Pointe, 7th Street and Carefree Highway, has a right to be worried.

According to Schroedl, at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, the storefront window of Sara's Essentials was shot out in what may have been an attempted burglary. Fortunately, the security system's alarm went off. Schroedl thinks that the alarm startling the perpetrators deterred them from entering.

Sara's Essentials was vandalized last month in a manner similar to that of recent break‑ins at other area businesses. April 9 burglaries and vandalism at several shops in Anthem and two at Tuscani Pointe involved breaking windows. On April 10, businesses at Fountain Hills were targeted, windows broken in the same way.

“Pretty spooky,” Schroedl admitted.
