“Wednesday’s
are busiest,” explained Rae Darden, resource center specialist.
“That’s when we process passport applications.”
In
addition to passports, the center offers such services as notary
public and voter registration.
The center provides the services formerly offered by
the Arabian Citizen Service Center, as well as more on‑site
city staff for zoning and property maintenance enforcement,
building inspection, development plan reviews and a north‑area
citizen liaison. Staff members from the city’s main offices
in downtown Scottsdale are available at the Pima North Center
during regularly scheduled days and times or by appointment.
Joni
Millanec lives closer to the former Arabian service center but
likes the new location because it’s “pretty.” “I visited the
center the other day to get some petitions notarized,” she related.
“It’s really
very nice.”
The
move from the Arabian center to Pima North puts the new service
center in the middle of an area facing major changes, including
the widening of both Pima and Scottsdale roads and several new
housing developments.
“Given
all the activity in the area, it made sense to relocate the
center to make it more easily accessible to people living and
working in the area,” said Darden.
