Kiwanis
helps teacher retention
Group holds ‘thank you’ party for first‑year instructors
by Barry Cohen
CAVE
CREEK – What better way to help kids than to make sure they have
excellent teachers? That’s why the Carefree Kiwanis honored 30
teachers who completed their first year in the CCUSD at a party
at Dorothy’s Hall at the Episcopal Church on Thursday, May 11.
“This
is just an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for a job well done
and to let the teachers know we appreciate their contributions,”
explained Kiwanis President Kathy Haugner, a former educator herself.
“Retaining good teachers is one of the best ways
to
insure our kids continue to receive
excellent educations, and since the Kiwanis focus is on youth,
this was a natural for us.”
Teachers
who attended the party received a small gift from the Kiwanis.
