Day event open to all
VALLEY -All are invited to Memorial Day activities at Phoenix
Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 W. Beardsley Road, May 29, from
9:15 a.m. to noon. Refreshments, bands, guest speakers, and a
Finale Balloon Release are all a part of the honor ceremonies.
The day begins with a flag raising by the Marine Honor Guard with
Tempe Police Bagpipers, Phoenix Fire Department Band and Jesse
McGuire playing the national anthem. Dedication of a new Veterans
Garden with a 21 gun salute and "Taps" will highlight
the event.
The park, serving Arizona since 1964, is hosting the event to
pay tribute to those who fought for our nation's rights and those
who continue to do so.

Golf makes
'miracles'
SCOTTSDALE - A Charity Golf Classic to raise money for Children's
Miracle Network and Phoenix Children's Hospital is scheduled June
26, at Pinnacle Peak Country Club, 8701 E. Pinnacle Peak Road,
with a 1:30 p.m. tee time.
Sponsored by the club and Pinnacle Peak Chamber of Commerce, the
event features a Business Expo at 11:30 a.m. and lunch before,
plus an awards reception, raffle and silent auction following
the 18 hole tournament. Cost is $500 per foursome or $150 per
person.

Helping
Habitat reach goal
SCOTTSDALE - When the women's group of Black Mountain Community
Church asked the congregation to match their $500 donation to
Habitat for Humanity's Desert Foothills Chapter, the amount immediately
grew to $3,000.
Additionally, a local philanthropic couple agreed to match the
church's donations dollar for dollar if Habitat can raise $500,000
by June 30.
To date, $470,000 has been collected towards the challenge grant

The small, interdenominational church, on Scottsdale Road, south

Life coaching
for women
NORTH VALLEY - The Wellness Connection: Mastering Personal and
Professional Transitions is a new Paradise Valley Community College
course designed to help women master life challenges, improve
wellness and embrace change.
The program runs from May 30 through August 2, in PVCC Building
F (Fitness Center), Room F131, from 5:30 to 8:10 p.m. Tuition
is $180 (less than $7 per hour) plus books. Internet access is
recommended.
The program integrates fitness, nutrition, workplace wellness,
stress management and emotional wellness, with one on one life
coaching available.

City auction
features surplus materials
PHOENIX - A wide range of surplus materials including furniture,
appliances, building materials and cars will go to the highest
bidder at the Phoenix Surplus Public Auction. The items may be
inspected before the auction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18 19.
Bidding will be held May 20, at the city's auction yard, 2820
S. 22nd Ave. (south of Lower Buckeye Road). Gates open at 6:30
a.m. for the 8 a.m. auction.

of dreaming can easily be understood, May 24, at 6:30 p.m, when
Bob Hoss, world renowned dream investigator, discusses the latest
dream research. Hoss is author of "Dream Language-Self Understanding
Through Imagery and Color," featured on network television,
as well as in "Readers' Digest." He also is an instructor

A hike
for every interest
CAVE CREEK - Go take a hike with the rangers at Cave Creek Regional
