Population
shifts had something to do with it, but it was only a matter of
time before North Valley prep sports teams started making their
presence felt among the state’s top programs. Whether it was (clockwise
from top left) the emergence of the Boulder Creek boys volleyball
team, the Cinderella season for Matt Summers and the Cactus Shadows
baseball team, the determination of Rachael Stevens of the Falcons
girls basketball team, or the do‑everything talent of Sandra Day
O’Connor quarterback Ian Michels, 2005‑06 showed North Valley
athletes at their best.
