AARP offering driver’s refresher courses

Harris Private Bank is sponsoring a driver’s refresher course from noon – 4 p.m. Friday and June 18 and 22.

The course, taught by AARP trained volunteers covers rules of the road; city, rural and freeway driving; parking lot safety; and personal auto security.

Cost is $10 and the course is open to all licensed drivers.

Harris Private Bank is located across from Albertson’s Grocery at the southwest corner of North Scottsdale Road and Carefree Highway.

DAS scholarship winner named

The graduating senior at Cactus Shadows High School received a Certificate of Scholarship and

a $2,500 award for college expenses during a May 14 ceremony at CSHS.

Sara, the daughter of Orlando and Cindy Pages of Cave Creek will graduate with a 3.98 grade point average and numerous academic and sports honors. She has been accepted to the honors

college at University of Arizona where she plans to pursue a business degree.

The DAS scholarship, awarded to area students since 1996, is named in honor of Devon Anne Sweeney, who died in a traffic accident in 1995 on Schoolhouse Road in Cave Creek.
