Falcons football will appear on Cox again

Cactus Shadows High School’s football team will again appear on Cox‑TV in 2007. After a successful appearance on the cable provider’s Game of the Week last season, Cactus Shadows will host Saguaro at 7 p.m. Oct. 4.

The Falcons will play two Thursday games in 2007. The other is Sept. 20 at Paradise Valley. That game is moved up a day in honor of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanna.

Rental harbor could fill fast

Boaters who want to harbor their watercraft at the soon‑to‑be‑built Scorpion Bay Marina and Yacht Club are advised to act fast.

Reservations for a limited quantity of boat storage rental slips are being taken on the marina’s Web site at scorpionbaymarina.com, where boaters can download a reservation form and view a list of rental fees.

Scorpion Bay is a 164‑acre full‑service facility scheduled to be constructed on the lake’s west side in an area popularly known as “Dirty Shirt.” Construction is expected to begin shortly, and boaters are encouraged to reserve their storage slips immediately.

“These slips will go fast,” said Dennis Gorney, a principal in Lake Pleasant Marina Partners LLC.

Developers are hoping the area becomes a popular destination and service facility for boaters, fishermen, recreationists and others visiting the lake region.

In addition to wet storage for boats, plans call for dry storage and other accommodations. The floating dock portion of the marina will be protected by a high‑tech wave attenuation system.

Other planned marina amenities include a park‑like setting, floating restrooms, stores for boating accessories, convenience items and food, launch ramp, covered and uncovered boat storage slips, boat rentals and an easy‑access tram system from parking areas.
