Flags
for the fallen decorate the desert in remembrance
All
of the 43,000‑plus graves of veterans and their
families buried at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona
on Cave Creek Road in Phoenix are dressed with an American
flag on Memorial Day. The annual Memorial Day observance
at the cemetery, which took place
Monday,
May 29, included a 21‑gun salute, “Taps” played
by the 108th Army Band of the
Arizona
Army National Guard, a proclamation delivered by Gov.
Janet Napolitano and the laying of the wreaths by various
local veterans’ groups in honor of fallen soldiers.
