Kiwanis
Club honors New River students
Four
New River Elementary fourth‑graders were recognized
as “Terrific Kids” by the Kiwanis
Club.
The
third quarter Terrific Kids were Desire Gunder and
Nick Cooper Rogge, and fourth quarter Terrific Kids
were David Fallenbeck and Kahlen Wittman.
At
the beginning of the quarter, students are asked to
set goals above and beyond their everyday work. Teachers
assess student progress and recommend them for recognition.
The students
receive
certificates, T‑shirts, bumper stickers and
a $50 savings bond.

preparing for wildfire season
The
New River/Desert Hills Community Association, Inc.
(NR/DHCA) will be hearing how to protect your property
and be prepared for wildfires on June 12 at the Crossroads
Christian Fellowship, 42425 N. New River Road., from
7:30– 9 p.m.
The
featured speaker will be Scott Hunt, fire management
officer for the Phoenix district of Arizona State
Land Department Fire Management will speak on being
“Firewise.”

Anthem
Rotary receives international honor
Anthem
Rotary received the Rotary International Achievement
Award and the Governor’s District Award recently at
“Rotary at the Peak” in Flagstaff.
The
award given by District Governor Marian Gill and President
of Rotary International Bill Boyd was given for accomplishments
in literacy in the local and International community
as well as leadership development, service projects,
vocational service, and the Rotary Foundation.
Anthem
Rotary meets at Anthem Country Club at Ironwood at
7:15 a.m. every Friday.
