Desert Foothills art teacher Carl Anderson’s cabin home in Camp Creek was destroyed, along with 14 other buildings near Seven Springs Road, in the Cave Creek Complex Fire that began on June 21, 2005. It burned 248,310 acres in the Tonto National Forest and was the second‑worst wildfire in Arizona history. Today, almost a year later, summer greenery brightens up the area around Anderson’s gutted adobe house.
