Acclaimed
author Pete Abrahams, who wrote Down the Rabbit
Hole, is making special appearances July 10‑12
for the Teen Summer Reading Program at Maricopa
County Library District.
Abrahams
is the author of 18 novels, including End
of Story, Oblivion and Lights Out, which was
nominated for an Edgar Best Novel Award. He
also writes the best‑selling “Echo Falls”
series for younger readers.

students to launch
Mars Mission
ANTHEM
– NASA and the Phoenix Mars Mission announced
Boulder Creek High School students will participate
in an intern program.
Kris
Hansford and Alexa Ogburn, along with Earth
Science teacher Kathy Hill have been selected
to participate in the Phoenix Student Intern
Program. Thirteen teams from across the country
will work with a member scientist of the Phoenix
Science Team for the 2007‑08 Phoenix
Mars Lander Mission launching in August.
The
students will learn various aspects of the
mission and do their own research to be completed
during the time the lander is operating on
Mars next summer.
This
is the first mission of NASA’s Mars Scout
Program, a competitively proposed, relatively
low‑cost series of missions to Mars.
The University of Arizona leads the Phoenix
mission, with project management at NASA’s
Jet Propulsion Laboratory and development
partnership at Lockheed Martin.

is offering an opportunity for you to become
a teacher with Fast Track
Designed
for those who already hold a bachelor’s degree,
teaching candidates start immediately with
on the job training at Mirage Elementary School
in an assistant capacity with an experienced
teacher. Earn a teaching certification and
a master’s degree all at the same time.
Instruction
in teaching methods and professional responsibilities
are taught on the Mirage Elementary campus
by ASU West – College of Teacher Education
and Leadership faculty.
