Local
businessman works to make Web sites be all they can be

CAREFREE
– All businesses are encouraged to have a Web site in
the 21st Century, but not
all
businesses are taking full advantage of the technology
available to them. Paris Toon hopes to change all that
for local businesses.
“It’s
not just a Web site,” said Toon recently during an interview
with The Desert Advocate. “There has to be a brand and
a marketing plan behind it.”
Toon,
owner of Forward Motion Concepts, located in Carefree,
is a Web consultant. Eating a Greek Salad at Uncle Louie’s
in the Albertson’s Plaza last week, Toon discussed his
vision
for the Carefree/Cave Creek/Scottsdale area and how he
hopes his endeavors will help local businesses turn a
better profit during the slow summer months and guarantee
good business
year‑round.
“There’s
a misconception about Web sites,” he said. “People want
to use Web sites as an ad rather than a tool. You’re making
a huge mistake by not having your inventory online.”
E‑commerce
is what makes small businesses successful, according to
Toon, and selling to a worldwide customer base is one
of the perks of having a Web site.
“Rather
than finding people to come to your store, you can sell
to anyone, anywhere in the world,” said Toon. “It’s utilizing
the tools available. The Internet can make you money during
the slow season.”
The
famous Arizona heat, which really has kicked in over the
past week, traditionally kills businesses in this part
of the Phoenix metropolitan area. However, Toon says that
this perception doesn’t have to be true anymore.
“Rather
than shutting down, focus on your Web site,” he said.
“If you can get a little bit from everywhere, you’ve actually
helped yourself out during the slow season.”
Toon
said every business is different and that there isn’t
one solution for every Web site.
“My
job isn’t to make you one million dollars. It’s my job
to bring in leads, then it’s your job to close the deals,”
he explained.
The
goal of Forward Motion Concepts is to create a tool that
everyone in the area could use without having to possess
the detailed computer knowledge sometimes required in
building a complex Web site.
“I
find out the philosophy of the business and I try to then
brand their idea to a successful marketing plan.”
Toon
already has upgraded the Carefree/Cave Creek Chamber of
Commerce Web site to good reviews.
