“Nothing
is taken out to cover expenses,” budge says. “Every
cent goes to the animals. Just mail a check made
out to your favorite charity to Linda Budge Studio,
P.O. Box 4050, Cave Creek, AZ, 83233.”
Checks
will be delivered to the nonprofit organizations
after the contest. Applicants can also hand deliver
their entries and meet Linda Budge each Saturday
during August at the POSH Pet Boutique and SPAw,
23233 N. Pima Road., Suite 103, in North Scottsdale.
Budge will demonstrate painting at the boutique
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Proceeds
from cash entry fees will be donated to the Arizona
Humane Society.
“I
love animals and just animals and wanted to help
out,” Budge says. “Animal charities need help and
this is a chance for me to use my talents to help.
We raised about $2,000 last year and have a goal
of $5,000 this year.”
You
don’t have to own a dog to get involved, Budge says.
“By
all means, if you don’t have a dog just donate,”
she says. “The Guide Dog Foundation especially
could use some help. All of the animal shelters
can use help. This is the time of year when they
get in a lot of stray animals. People take them
out in the desert and turn them loose.”
Entry
forms can be downloaded at LindaBudge.com. Photos
and essays will not be returned.
Applicants
younger than 18 must have a parent or a guardian
sign the entry form and release.
The
winning entrant will be notified by Sept.15. The
winner will receive an original custom‑framed
painting of his or her dog valued at $2,300. In
addition, the winner will receive a packet of 50
greeting cards featuring the painted image of his
or her dog. The winner must bring his or her dog
to the Linda Budge Studio for a consultation and
photos prior to work beginning.
POSH
Pet Boutique and SPAw will also donate prizes for
the contest’s 10 honorable mentions.
“We’re
looking forward to reading the essays and raising
much‑needed funds for our local animal charities,”
Budge said.
