Meet the Milk‑Bone dog

ANTHEM – Sandy, the Milk‑Bone spokesdog, will congratulate winners of the Picture Perfect Pet Photo Contest at 2 p.m. on July 29 at North Valley Regional Library, 40410 N. Gavilan Peak Parkway. Contest photo entries will be accepted through July 28.

From Mother Goose to pajamas

CAVE CREEK – Desert Broom Library, 29710 N. Cave Creek Road, will host Mother Goose time with great stories and songs from 2‑2:30 p.m. on July 24. Have a teddy bear ‘picnic’


ANTHEM – Children ages 3‑5 can bring their favorite teddy bears to a “picnic” at 10 a.m. July 26 and children ages 2 and under are welcome with theirs at 10 a.m. on July 27 in the Story Time Room at North Valley Regional Library, 40410 N. Gavilan Peak Parkway.

Learn make‑up tips from the pros

Phoenix Fire gives free shots

VALLEY – Phoenix Fire Department is offering free immunizations for children every Saturday through the end of September. Arizona has new requirements for school immunizations this year, so parents who are not sure if their children’s shots are current can call (602) 534‑BABY, ext. 2229, to have them checked before school starts.

Vaccines will be given against 13 childhood diseases. All shots required for daycare, kindergarten, elementary, middle and high schools will be available free.

Be a ‘Humane Hero’

ANTHEM – Donate extra blankets, towels, animal collars or pet food at North Valley Regional

Library at 2 p.m., July 31, and get a “Humane Hero” certificate from the Arizona Humane Society.
