Mining its business
Cave Creek wants public input on Phoenix Mine site
by Jason Stone

CAVE CREEK – After more than 20 years sitting idle, the Phoenix Mine site is on its way to development. The first of three public meetings for the Phoenix Mine Site Redevelopment Planning is set for 7 p.m. July 19 at council chambers.

The 38‑acre site has remained undeveloped since mining operations stopped in 1985. The site could provide Cave Creek with a gateway to the 2,154‑acre Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area.

The first public meeting will focus on an exchange of information with the public to identify Creekers’ vision for the future of the site. The town will then hold two additional public meetings in conjunction with the development of the Site Master Plan. The second meeting is planned for Sept. 20.
