AZ) The Desert Botanical Garden is hosting its Volunteer
Fair on Saturday, August 25, 2007, from 9 a.m to noon.
The Volunteer Fair is designed to introduce the community
to Garden volunteer opportunities for the coming year.
This is the first step for anyone who is interested in
volunteering at the Garden. There is something for everyone,
including opportunities in education, horticulture, and
special events. There is a special need at this time
for volunteer docents/guides. Volunteer opportunities
include weekday, weekend, morning and afternoon programs.
Everyone
is welcome to drop in between 9 a.m. – noon to learn
about different programs, talk to staff and volunteers
and sign up for training courses. There is also a special
teen program for 12 ‑17 year olds.

“Phoenix Point of Pride”, the Desert Botanical Garden
is one of only a few botanical gardens accredited by the
American Association of Museums. It is a privately funded,
non‑profit organization and depends on revenues
from admissions and gift shop sales, as well as contributions
from individuals and businesses to fund its programs of
environmental education, plant conservation and research.
Admission
rates are $10.00 for adults, $9.00 for seniors, $4.00
for children 3‑12 years‑of‑age; Garden
members and children 2 years and younger are admitted
free. The Desert Botanical Garden is located inside
Papago Park at 1201 North Galvin Parkway in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Garden is open every day, except December 25 and July
4, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Ottosen Gallery is
