Airport roadway, parking project begins

SCOTTSDALE – The Scottsdale Airport has begun a five‑month roadway and parking lot improvement project to increase efficiency and access to the airport.

The project, which began Monday, is happening on the west side of the facility and includes roadway, parking and aesthetic improvements. Completion is scheduled for January. All businesses in and around the airport will remain open during construction.

When completed, the project will result in a new three‑lane, one‑way roadway system in front of the terminal building–one drop‑off lane and two through lanes. The project also includes 117 new parking spaces.

Airport Drive will be closed for 60 days north of Butherus Drive. Traffic will be detoured through the current airport parking lot.

The $2.7 million project is funded primarily through grants from the Arizona Department of Transportation.
