Victims
wait as Anthem fights crime
My
last house before moving to Anthem was in an older part
of Phoenix that would be considered a high crime area compared
to Anthem today. We had a Block Watch that was very effective
and made us all feel safer and in control of our own neighborhood.
The
Anthem community is trying to form Block Watch groups based
on established neighborhoods. The thinking is that people
would be more likely to get involved if they know the people
who are involved.
It
is not working. There is crime in Anthem, but not at a level
that has anyone worried at this time. We have also been
told by law enforcement that the number of patrols depends
on the number of calls received. More crime brings more
officers.
Someday
we will reach the magic number of crimes to trigger concern,
but we are not there at this time. Too bad for those that
will be victims while we wait.
