Scottsdale
golf pro wins Tennessee open
NORTH
SCOTTSDALE – Pinnacle Peak Country Club teaching
professional Karen Davies recently won the rain‑shortened
Frontier Tennessee Women’s Open.
The
Carefree resident won the title July 30 with
an even‑par final score of 144 after back‑to‑back
rounds of 72.
Davies
was one of the few golfers who was able to finish
their second and final rounds before the nearly
five‑hour thunderstorm delay.
The
Women’s Open championship would have been contested
at 54 holes of stroke play with a cut to low
60 players and ties after 36 holes. But due
to the bad weather for more than three days,
the championship was reduced to a 36‑hole
event.
Davies’
professional first‑place earnings totaled
$7,000.
