‘Control
the water, control ... ”
My
intent for this letter originally was to address
the issues surrounding the “more intense use” of
the T.C. Thorensen property A.K.A. Julie Terry property
to those of us that have been here longer than four
years. There is a group of active concerned citizens
persistent in mentoring the movement on this property.
It is extremely important, and a pressing issue
for our community, vision, development and well
being. The ongoing problem here is spin, lies, short
memories and deceit at town hall, but this must
wait for another letter, because there is a more
pressing issue at hand that involves the same underhanded
tactics.
The
town manager of Cave Creek is involved in behind-the-scenes
negotiations with the developer of a massive subdivision
on Continental Mountain. Why? This is for the purpose
of providing water, so a subdivision can be built
... what a concept for a preservation community.
Thank
goodness there is a small group of active, concerned
citizens who are taking on this issue. They need
your help, fellow Creekers, to stop the wholesale,
giving away of our water resources.
I
heard the mantra from the present council and their
community thugs during the time of water company
negotiations ... “control the water, control our
destiny.” Is our destiny to ruin our neighborhoods
with massive water tanks to supply sprawling development
in the county north of us? If you don’t think so,
I suggest you show up at the town council meeting
on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. and tell your elected officials
what you want.
Inform
yourself. Check out The Desert Advocate’s coverage
of this issue this week and previous weeks. We have
a number of informed property owners that have taken
the time to lay out the facts. If you need history
and letters written by others, e-mail me; I will
forward them to you. This is not crying wolf ...
this is a real threat to our quality of life, property
values, businesses and environment.
