BLACK
CANYON CITY – Saturday’s rainstorm knocked out electrical
power to more than 1,500 customers in Black Canyon City
and New River, according to power company officials.
It
was the third storm within 30 days to slam the area and
cause power outages.
Arizona
Public Service Co. spokesman Rufus Coleman said from 8:32
a.m.‑10:35 a.m. on Sept. 9, 81 customers in Black
Canyon City from Maggie Mine Road to Black Mesa, west
of Black Canyon Highway, were left without power when
a branch fell and broke a power line.
For
about 10 minutes that morning, 1,427 APS customers in
New River lost power in the area from Photoview Road to
Rockaway Drive, between 24th Street and Coyote Pass Road,
Coleman said. A lightning strike damaged an overhead power
line causing the interruption of service.
The
third outage, also in Black Canyon City, left 20 customers
without power for about three hours from 8:56 a.m.‑11:44
a.m. in the area of Mud Springs to Squaw Valley roads,
from Old Black Canyon Highway to Old Mud Springs Road,
after the storm blew out a power box fuse.
