ANTHEM
– Theatre Maxim’s artistic director, Dominik Rebilas,
31, will have to register as a sex offender now that he
has pleaded guilty to two felony counts of indecent exposure,
according to the Maricopa County Superior Court.
Judge
Bethany G. Hicks accepted Rebilas’ guilty pleas and in
June placed him on 20 years probation
for each count, with the sentences to run concurrently,
the county reported. The state
dismissed four other indecent exposure charges against
Rebilas, who could not be reached for comment.
Sheriff’s
deputies on Dec. 8, 2005, arrested Rebilas after four
children, ranging in age from nine to 13, said he exposed
himself and fondled his genitalia in front of them on
two separate occasions, according to The Desert Advocate
archives.
The
two incidents took place in public view during late October
and mid‑November 2005 at Rebilas’ residence in the
40000 block of Trailhead Way, according to authorities.
Each incident took place while the victims were walking
to school.
Rebilas
and his wife, Shana Rebilas Bousard, in 1999 created Theatre
Maxim, a nonprofit North Valley theatre, located on Gavilan
Peak Parkway.
Theatre
board member Julie Turko said she wasn’t prepared to speak
on the organization’s behalf, adding, “I’ve been out of
the loop for a while.” Other representatives of the theatre
did not return calls seeking comment.
