Here is a roundup of local prep sports news:

CROSS COUNTRY

Boulder Creek made its first big splash in a meaningful race Sept. 16 when senior Daniel Lovell won the O’Connor/Ken Denson Invitational. Lovell finished the three‑mile race with a time of 15 minutes, 44.7 seconds, which was a little more than two seconds better than second‑place Rodrigo Rodriguez of Alhambra. The Jaguars finished 11th as a team out of 15 schools. Ashley Zeek turned in the best Boulder Creek girls performance with a 44th‑place finish as the Jaguar girls took 12th.

It was easy as 1‑2‑3‑4 for O’Connor’s girls team at its home invitational last weekend. Lindsay Prescott, Camille Olson, Aleina Eisenhauer and Jade Riley took the first four places, respectively, to help the team to an easy victory. Prescott finished the three‑mile race with a time of 17:31.80, which was more than a minute better than Olson. Other high finishers for O’Connor were Kailey Rumbo (12th), Shannon Walsh (20th) and Ally Hertz (21st). O’Connor’s boys team took seventh at the invitational, led by Steven Cox’s 25th‑place showing.

Three Cactus Shadows runners finished in the top 18 at the O’Connor/Ken Denson Invitational. Patrick Cronin took eighth with a time of 16:26.17, while Nick Zalewski finished 13th and Kyle Short took 18th. The Falcons finished fourth as a team, while Cactus Shadows’ girls team took eighth.
