OBITUARY - Curt Cockburn ‑ 1926 ‑ 2007

Curt Cockburn, engineer, builder and community leader, died at his home in Carefree on Sept. 16.

He is survived by his wife, Corky, three children and their spouses (Dr. Andrew Cockburn and Dr. Anne Cronin, Morgantown, W. Va.; Russ and Linda Cockburn, Egg Harbor, Wis.; and Robin Gurule and John Lyles, Santa Fe, N. M.), three grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.

He was born in North Dakota in 1926 and moved to Washington during the Depression. He served in the Navy in World War II.

 

He received his degree in electrical engineering from Washington State College, where he met Corky Fort. They married in 1948.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in Curt's name be made to Desert Foothills  Library, Hospice of the Valley or Desert Foothills Land Trust.

The family will have an Open House to welcome friends at a ‘celebration of life’ on Sat.,  Oct. 13, at 1‑7 p.m. at 36666 Stardust, Carefree.
